Robbie Ballard – President and Chief Operating Officer
Robbie Ballard serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of 1845 and has been with the Company since 2011. Mr. Ballard is the senior executive responsible for the Company’s operations. Mr. Ballard was the key executive who drove the growth and development of 1845’s predecessor company and is a driving force behind the Company’s integration of its logistics personnel and its well site services offering. Mr. Ballard was chief operating officer of Thomas Brothers Grass and at the end of his 8-year tenure; Thomas Brothers ultimately sold to Budweiser. As a part of his duties Mr. Ballard oversaw a fleet of 150-power units.
James Kennedy – Chief Financial Officer
James Kennedy serves as Chief Financial Officer of 1845, having worked with the current CEO and COO at D&T Trucking since early 2013 as part of the AVC Partners Team. Mr. Kennedy has over 10 years of experience in the private equity and financial services sectors where he had the opportunity to advise and analyze businesses ranging from Fortune 10 to the lower middle market. Prior to his current role with 1845, Mr. Kennedy served as an investment professional with private equity fund Fenway Partners. Prior to Fenway Partners, he worked in the investment banking divisions of both Goldman Sachs and UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Kennedy holds a BA from Georgetown University.
Shawyn Paxton – Vice President of Finance and Logistics
Shawyn Paxton serves as Vice President of Finance and Logistics. Shawyn has 20 years of experience in logistics including transportation, systems, warehousing and distribution. She began her career with Walmart as a Transportation Operations Manager and then moved to Greatwide Logistics Services where she earned the title of Director of National Accounts.
Nathan Kurland – Vice President of Operations
Nate Kurland serves as Vice President of Operations at 1845 with primary ownership of 1845’s dispatch operations, capacity development, repairs & maintenance and general manager teams. Prior to 1845, Nate spent nearly a decade in the bulk transportation space in various operational positions from Terminal Manager to Director of Maintenance & Tank Cleaning for over 20 locations nationwide. Prior to his experience in trucking, Nate served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps with multiple deployments throughout the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He continues to serve as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps – Reserve. Nate holds a BBA in Business Management from Stephen F Austin State University and an MBA from Auburn University.
Randy Plotner – Vice President of Business Development
Randy Plotner serves as Vice President of Business Development and has been with 1845 since April 2017. Based in Houston, TX, Randy leads the business development team and is responsible for procedures and strategies to increase customer development/satisfaction, operational efficiencies and continued growth. Randy has 23 years of transportation experience across different industries, with 20 of those years focused on the bulk industry. Prior to joining 1845, he served as the Director of Sales & Operations Consultant for Bay & Bay Transportation, Director of Sales & Operations for J&M Tank Lines, Inc. and National Sales & Operations Manager for Autumn Transport, Inc.
Cathy Redenbaugh – Vice President of Human Resources
Cathy Redenbaugh serves as Vice President of Human Resources of 1845 and has been with the Company since mid 2013 when she initially focused on the transaction that created 1845 and subsequently the integration before she transitioned to her current role. Prior to joining 1845, Cathy served in various roles of increasing seniority within human resources over a 15-year period with Parker Hannifin Corporation.
Marc Kramer – Executive Committee Director
Marc is the founder of 1845 Investor, AVC Partners, which brings the benefits of patient capital, professional business acumen and market insights to assist business owners accelerate growth, and realize greater levels of success. Marc is a proven investor and business partner. He has more than 20 years of private equity experience, most recently as a partner at H.I.G. Capital, a leading global private equity investment firm with over $10 billion of capital under management. At H.I.G., Marc focused on providing capital to middle-market enterprises valued between $200 million to $500 million. Prior to H.I.G., Marc led Fenway Partners ($2 billion under management) practice in the transportation/logistics sector where he invested in over 20 companies. Marc is also a Trustee for the French-American School of New York. Marc is a director in PeopLease, Sipi Metals, Soar and 1845, and founder of the Open Road Foundation, a charitable organization, providing victim’s assistance and scholarship opportunities. Marc earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA from Dartmouth College. He lives in New York, NY and enjoys spending time with family, cooking and boating.
Chris Munro – Executive Committee Director
Chris is the founder of 1845 Investor, AVC Partners, which brings the benefits of patient capital, professional business acumen and market insights to assist business owners accelerate growth, and realize greater levels of success. He is a proven, transformational leader as well as a business and investment partner. As an entrepreneurial public and private CEO, a board member, and investor, Chris has a history of strong execution, governance skills, strategic repositioning, acquisitions/divestments, deep customer relationships and developing high-performing, process-oriented leadership teams. Chris has sourced, led and repositioned public, private and private-equity-owned businesses ranging from $200 million to $6 billion in four continents. He is also the Southern Regional Chair for YPO/WPO Deal Network. Chris is currently a director in PeopLease, Sipi Metals, KTS, 1845 Oil Field Services, Surya Carpets and Team One. Chris has a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Glasgow and an Executive MBA from the London Business School. Chris lives in Atlanta, GA and enjoys spending time with his family, golf, motorbike riding and extensive traveling.
Tim Buffington – Founder
Tim, our Founder, was the original CEO of 1845. He founded D&T Trucking in 2007 and, until its merger with Rowdy Farms and Gila Hotshot, was the CEO of D&T Trucking. Mr. Buffington began his post law school career focusing on small businesses and land use before transitioning into real estate development. While in real estate, he completed projects from Nevada to Texas. Mr. Buffington holds a B.S. in Agricultural Business from California State University Fresno and a J.D. from Willamette College of Law and is a member of the California and Oregon State Bars.
